Fall Guide to Western Mass: The Montague Bookmill

As the weather in Western Mass gets colder, our fall activities must move indoors. The Montague Bookmill is one of my favorite places to spend a chilly November afternoon. Located just outside of Amherst, the Bookmill is a small, cozy building that juts precariously out over a rushing river. Strategically placed nooks allow you to simultaneously enjoy the warmth of the indoors and the beauty of nature.

The inside of the Bookmill reminds me of a Hogwarts common room. Lumpy, mismatched armchairs and couches are placed among shelfs of loosely organized books. The comfortable and casual atmosphere makes the Bookmill a great place to read, do work and catch up with friends.

It is a beautiful bookstore to explore. Almost too perfectly, the Bookmill boasts the slogan "books you don't need in a place you can't find." For an avid reader, the Bookmill is a dream come true. The shelves are abundantly stocked with captivating and unique books that you have never heard of!

With plenty of reading material, free wifi, delicious food and comfy couches, it is easy to spend an entire day lost in the comfort of the Bookmill.  If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend it for your next fall activity! Make sure to bring some extra money and splurge on number one of the lunch menu. You won't regret it!
