Trip to Boston!

This past weekend I went to Boston to visit some friends. Despite a couple of initial snafus, it was a great weekend filled with fun activities and wonderful people!

On Friday night, I arrived just after midnight... right in time for the bars to close!
Sometimes I forget that New York really is the city that never sleeps. The party doesn't even start here until after 11pm. In Boston, the bars start asking people to leave at 1am, and the public transportation shuts down at 2am. That means the party has to start as early as 9pm! I was barely on the road by then! Anyway, that meant Friday was a bust, but Saturday and Sunday was an absolute blast!

On Saturday we went for a tour of Harpoon Brewery. I have been on a couple of brewery tours, but Harpoon's was by far the best. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and engaging. I actually learned a lot about brewing! I never knew how many cycles of filtration beer goes through before it is ready for distribution. Also, beer does not expire, but it does "skunk" when it is exposed to sunlight! So keep your beach beers in a cooler or backpack!

The brewery building is also impressive. It is in a warehouse right on the water, with multiple floors of machinery and storage. After the tour and tasting, we sat at the bar and enjoyed a couple more Harpoon Ales straight from the source! It is a great place to spend an afternoon (and evening)!
